Poem: The owl and the pussycat by Edward Lear

This week, Jane Elizabeth Avison reads The owl and the pussycat, a poem by Edward Lear, illustrated by Jan Brett.

Poetry is a great way of learning for children.

It's fun, which is very important, but it's also a great way of learning about rhythm, about the flow of language. It also helps to develop memory.

To memorize a whole concept from A to Z, with sometimes unusual and abstract language, is really something interesting to do for children, and a great technique to develop memory.
