Moving to a new country is a significant adventure, especially for children. A new school, a new language, and an entirely unfamiliar environment can make the first few weeks both exciting and overwhelming for families settling into Geneva.
At PEP English, we have created a programme specifically designed for children with little or no prior knowledge of French. Our aim is simple: to help children discover Geneva while developing their language skills naturally, in a supportive, engaging, and reassuring environment where they feel confident to explore and learn.
Why an English Language School Offers a French Camp
For many years, we have supported international families as they transition into life in Geneva. As the exclusive language partner with the CAGI (Geneva Welcome Centre for International Organisations), we understand the realities of relocation and the importance of helping children settle quickly into their new surroundings.
While our core expertise is in teaching English, we also recognise the vital importance of what we call an active language — a language children can use in real life to communicate with peers, navigate daily situations, and build independence. French plays this essential role in Geneva. This camp was therefore created to offer children a positive first immersion in French, while also helping them connect with the city’s rich culture, history, and everyday life.

Learning French Through Geneva’s Story
What if the city itself became the classroom? Throughout the week, children embark on a journey through Geneva’s fascinating history, from Roman times to the present day. They explore the city’s most iconic landmarks while naturally building vocabulary and developing confidence in spoken French.
Children learn to introduce themselves, ask for directions, describe what they see, and use French in meaningful, real-life situations. Learning happens organically through games, storytelling, drama, creative activities, and outdoor exploration, making language acquisition both enjoyable and memorable.
The programme is inspired by Chroniques de Genève, created by author Anita Lehmann and illustrator Pierre Wazem. Through these stories, children discover the people, events, and legends that have shaped Geneva over the centuries, bringing the city’s heritage to life in an engaging and accessible way.

A Week Full of Discovery and Exploration
Each day offers a rich variety of experiences designed to spark curiosity and enjoyment. Children take part in interactive activities that make learning French fun and natural, explore stories and legends inspired by Lake Geneva, and enjoy role-play activities that encourage expression and imagination.
The programme culminates in a final exploration of the Old Town, where children experience Geneva as true young explorers, applying their French in real-life contexts.

More Than Just a French Course
This programme goes far beyond language learning. It is an immersive experience.
It helps children become familiar with their new environment, build confidence and independence, and form positive memories at a time of transition. By combining language learning with discovery and play, children develop not only their French skills but also a sense of belonging in their new city from the very beginning.
